The history of women’s movement went hand in hand with struggle for human rights. It was resent in a number of forms to combat gender-based violence, fight for just living space, to protecting rights of marginalized people. Yet today, as challenged to human rights became stronger, i.e. smaller civil spaces, increasing violence against women, and pressure against human rights defenders, there was a question which we needed to reflect together: where was the direction that the women movement took and how could we protect and nurture this movement?

The coordinator of Civil Society Coalition for Draft Domestic Worker Protection Law Ratification, Eva Sundari, stated that on the eve of Kartini Day, it was ironic that the draft domestic worker protection law was not ratified yet, as there had to be respect and appreciation to women in a variety of sectors, as human resources. Domestic workers’ contribution was highly critical, but the State ignored it not only procedurally but also in terms of its management. This was because there was no certainty where the position of the draft law was at this moment in time, whether it was still at the parliament or at the government. The polemic was revealed during a press conference on Wednesday (15/4).

Ahmad Sofyan S.H, M.A. had been teaching criminal law for 13 years, business ad corporation law, and focused on publication as seventh expert witness for the political prisoners’ trial - Hanif Bagas Utama (Hanif) , Bogi Setyo Bimo (Bogi), and Daffa Labidullah Darmaji (Labid), on Wednesday (11/3). The relevance to this case was charges against Article 246 and the 247 Criminal Code.

Lembaga Partisipasi Perempuan (LP2) launched a Buku Jurnal Puan (Book) Volume 2, a collection of young feminist writings who attended feminist write workshop batch 2. In the zoom meeting on Thursday (9/4), the moderator and writer, Eka Hindra said that writers would emerge from Lembaga Partisipasi Perempuan (LP2). And that was confirmed by Adriana Venny, resource person and the editor of Jurnal Puan Vol. 2 that there was a debt from the previous generation – re. draft law on domestic workers protection and draft law on indigenous communities, which necessitated the re-birth of feminism.

The Constitutional Court granted part of petition for a Judicial Review of Law No. 8 Year 2016 on People with Disability. The Constitutional Court stated that chronic diseases could be categorized as disability through medical assessment. The head of Constitutional Court, Suhartoyo had made a decision with the regards to the petition by reading the Decision No. 130/PUU-XXIII/2025 at the Constitutional Court Plenary Court Room in Jakarta on Monday (2/3/2026).

The Surakarta Court conducted further trial for alleged incitement of democratic action that resulted in chaos at the end of August 2025, in Surakarta on Monday (30/04). The trial set an agenda for the pronouncement of the judges’ verdict. The pronouncement with regards to the three defendants - Hanif Bagas Utama (26), Bogi Setyo Bumo (27), and Daffa Labidulloh Darmaji (21) - was given in two decisions.

The proceeding against political prisoner Hanif Bagas Utama (Hanif), Bogi Setyo Bumo (Bogi), and Daffa Labidullah Darmaji (Labid) proceeded on 4 March 2026, with deliberate limitation of public presence at the court. That was the right to listen and observe the proceeding fully, not simply technical comfort within the court, and the court had committed infringement to the regulation of the Supreme Court. There was no sound system during the proceeding. That infringement was with regards to Standard Facility (SK KMA No. 026/KMA/SK/II/2012) with regards to Standard Services at the Court, the court had the obligation to provide descent facility including sound system so that all people involved could listen to the proceeding.
