This is an important issue for Yayasan Yekti Angudi Piadeging Hukum Indonesia (YAPHI), which integrated this HIV/AIDS issue into its Anti-Violence against Women Day celebration. This featured NGO-PHI podcast and you-tube channels. NGO-PHI was a regulare program of Yayasan Angudi Piadeging Hukum Indonesia (YAPHI) – a critical encounter organised by the Publication and Documentation Division within YAPHI (Pudok).

NGO-PHI was there to deal with the challenges of our time – the digital world – which forced us to participate in order to defend the civil society, to enable civil society to voice their views, and for the policy stakeholders to answer the problems and concerns in the society. By using the social media feature (YouTube), NGO-PHI expects to address questions and issues in the community, including vulnerable communities, i.e. HIV and AIDS issues or people with HIV or people with AIDS.

In this NGO-PHI edition, YAPHI worked with Komunitas Rumah Matahari in the City of Pati to share kowledge abuntuk saling berbagi pengetahuan sebagai sarana sosialisasi dan edukasi kepada masyarakat luas.
The filming for NGO-PHI took place at the secretariat of Jaringan Masyarakat Peduli Sungai Juwana (Jampisawan) on Saturday, 30/11/2024 by inviting Anita from Rumah Matahari, and Juini from Kelompok Dukungan Sebaya (KDS) as speakers. Why was Jampisawan involved in this? Because Jampisawan helped set up Rumah Matahari and enabled it to develop its own networks, and members of Rumah Matahari were also active in environment issues.
The relaxing setting allowed discussion to proceed with questions about what is HIV and what is the difference between HIV and AIDS, how can HIV be transmitted, whether HIV is transmitted through regular contact i.e. handshake or sharing utensils, or can it spread via saliva, tears, and sweat. Then the discussion moved on to symptoms and early diagnosis of HIV infection, including prevention, and how to prevent mother to child transmission and whether an infected mother could still breastfeed her child. The focus moved on to whether HIV can be cured, what is anti-retroviral (ARV) therapy and how it worked and what were the side effects.

Rumah Matahari has conducted district HIV/AIDS regulation advocacy since 2013 which, in 2023, led to the Government Regulation No. 7 Year 2020 and District Administrator Regulation No. 38 Year 2022. (Astuti)
