Nurul Kusuma H. M. Psi, Psychologist, Manager Center for Public Mental Health (CMPH) UGM (Gadjah Mada University) says that the Ministry of Health publishes Pocket Books on First Aid for Psychological Wound (P3LP) for high school students, University Students, Islamic School Students, even Early Education students and Kindergarten students during a seminar that coincides with Adolences Mental Stability Advocate Competition (AMSAC) 2025 at Gelanggang Inovasi dan Kreativitas (GIK or Innovation and Creativity Arena), on Saturday (24/5).

So what is the relations between mental health and P3LP? Nurul suggests that P3LP complements First Aid. P3LP is known as a first aid for all first responders to help with psychological wound

Nurul asks why first responders need to understand mental health. It is evident in early education students’ instinct to accompany and to sit beside a person experiencing psychological wound. Hence, first aid responders need to learn and understand mental health.

Bambang Purwanto from the Ministry of Health says that P3LP is in fact a new breakthrough in community. It was known in the past as pychological first aid. CMPH suggested the name P3LP. "P3K includes accidents such as physical injury, while P3LK covers psychological wound/injuries," says Bambang.

A psychology researcher at CMPH, Wirdatul Anisa M. Psi., says that first responders need to pay attention to a number of things after looking carefully at the situation. They need to assess whether there is a need for medication to deal with physical pains, i.e. internal injuries as a result of, for example, bullying, and then look at the stress reaction such as crying, screaming or hysterical or confused. The responders may hear and become good listeners. What does the person think about? What does the person experience?

“We cannot make a judgment based on our own opinion. We must focus and be totally present. We should not be distracted, by, for example our mobile phones, or by talking to other people. We should not pass on our judgment, and should not point the blame on anyone. It may be the case that we cannot fully fulfil a person’s needs, so we need to engage with a network of people, or refer the person to a psychologist,” says Wirdatul.

She adds that there is a psychologist in every community health centre in Yogyakarta, or the possibility to connect with other parties. We would not leave a person alone, we must ensure that a person has a company.

Information about P3LP would be distributed throughout Indonesia. The launch for P3LP happened last year, and information dissemination would be given to all health personnel in community health centres in Indonesia.

The Ministry of Health has given information to the provinces, and to teachers, and doctors. The information can also be accessed through YouTube Ayo Sehat. (Ast)
