On Saturday, 7 September 2024, Munir Said Thalib Murder Case entered its twentieth year. Munir, was a human rights activist who was murdered by arsenic during a flight to the Netherlands in 2004. And the case continued to inspire question about who was the murderer?

On Wednesday 7/8, the Civil Society Coalition for Security Reform conducted a hearing with the National Human Rights Commissioner(s) on government revision of the Armed Forces and Police Laws. The Coalition presented its review and opinions regarding the discussion being held the President and the Parliament regarding the Armed Forces and Police Laws, which, in the Coalition’s view, infringed on the established procedure for law preparation, and on the principles of human rights and democracy.

The Police charged Meila for defamation re. Article 27 Point 3 in conjunction to Article 45 Point 3 of the Information and Electronic Transaction Law. The Coalition believed that the charge was an attempt to criminalse Meila and a serious attack on women human rights defenders and victim of sexual violence.
